Program Summary
Centering traditional fishing operations, this leisure water activity will bring you the performance of gillnetting by professional fisherfolk up close! You can also extensively learn about the recent development of fisheries, traditional wisdom and real-life experiences at sea by interacting with fisherfolk. For the first time, The Fisher has invited Keith Lai, the author of “Hong Kong Market Sea Fish”, to a join in this sea expedition to explore the marine life. Keith will teach you how to observe and select fish, allowing everyone to touch the fish themselves. He will also introduce the characteristics and structures of various fish species, engaging in in-depth discussions about fish-eating culture. This family-friendly event is perfect for those who are interested in marine biology. Don’t miss out on this opportunity if you have a fascination with aquatic life!
What You Will Experience
- Wonderment by the demonstration of gillnetting by fisherfolk at close range

- All applications will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Registration must be completed on the online booking platform at least 7 days prior to the commencement of the program.
- Participants will receive a confirmation email once registration and payment have been confirmed. Please pay attention to the spam or junk mailboxes of your email account.
- The program date, time, and participant’s name cannot be changed or rescheduled. All payments made are non-refundable and non-transferable. Please make sure the program dates fit into the participant’s schedule before registration.
- No refund will be made if the participant cannot join the program after registration.
- Participants under 16 years old must be accompanied by a paying parent/guardian who satisfies all program requirements.
(Groups/ Schools) Notes to Applicants
- Upon receipt of the application via email, The Fisher will normally inform the successful group applicants by phone or email within 2 weeks. If applicants do not receive any acknowledgment of receipt after 2 weeks from the date of submission of the applications, please contact us at (852) 2639 9868.
- A group should be under the supervision of teachers or group leaders during the program.
- The teachers/ group leaders should ensure all participants follow the itinerary and the instructions of the program instructors.
- No refund will be issued if the number of participants attending the activity is less than the number confirmed in the application.

Important Notes
- The location of gillnetting demonstration varies depending on the weather, currents and estimated catch rate of the day.
- Program will be carried out on the boat. Participants should be aware of their physical conditions, e.g. if participants are prone to seasickness, please consider preparation beforehand. (Please refer to instructions on usage of medicines if necessary.)
- Please bring your own bags for any marine product purchase.
- Wheelchairs and strollers are not suitable to use during the program due to safety reasons. Please remark in the application if you have any concerns or requests.
- Please be punctual. Latecomers will not be entertained.
- Participants are suggested to wear casual and comfortable sport wear and trainers.
- Participants should check their body temperature before attending the activity.
- Recommended to bring with a 3.5mm earphones to connect to the tour guide system.

- Participant absence due to any circumstances is considered as a “no show”. No rescheduling or other arrangements will be provided.
- Participants who are suffering from any disease (including, but not limited to fever, coughing, cold/flu, skin disease), under the influence of medication and/or alcohol are not recommended to participate in this program.
- Please refer to the below Special Arrangements Under Inclement Weather Conditions to see the arrangements that correspond to each adverse weather condition if it happens on the program date.
- Participants must confirm that all information provided is genuine and correct. The program will be canceled due to insufficient enrolment (5 days before the program date) or inclement weather, and participants will be notified via phone, email or SMS.
- Please take care and safeguard your own personal belongings. Personal possessions are always carried at the passenger’s risk. The Fisher is not responsible for any loss or damage to personal belongings.
- The program is itself covered by Public Liability Insurance. Participants are fully responsible for arranging, at their own expense, such life, health and other forms of insurance coverage as the individual considers appropriate.
- Participants must at all times strictly follow all the instructions given by The Fisher’s staff and to the satisfaction of the staff giving the instruction.
- The program may be canceled or have activities changed due to adverse weather. The content of the program may be subject to change without prior notice. In the event of a dispute, the decision of The Fisher will be final.
