About the Program

Program Summary

Calling for all fishing newbies! Ben sir, who is a descendant of fisherfolks and one of The Fisher team members, is holding a workshop to bring everyone out at sea and go fishing for the first time! This time, we will begin from Aberdeen and head to water areas around Lamma Island, Po Toi Island, Heng Lan Island or Stanley Tai Pai for fishing. We welcome everyone who is interested in fishing or fisherfolk culture to join us and enjoy the fun of fishing!

We welcome all newbies to join us, as Ben sir are going to teach you all about fishing step by step and make sure you have an unforgettable experience on fishing!


What You Will Experience

  • Visit fishing equipment shop to learn about fishing gear and equipment
  • Explain the basic skills of fishing and demonstrate the ways of using fishing gear
  • Practical session – Under the professional guidance from Ben Sir, try fishing and the process of unhooking the fishes
  • Sharing on the catches, explain the specialties and knowledge of different kinds of fish

What You Will Learn

  • Understand basic fishing techniques, equipment and how to use fishing gear properly
  • Learn about sustainable fisheries development and how to choose environmentally sustainable seafood
  • Understand the basic knowledge of local marine ecology
  • Understand the concept of “from sea to table”

  • All applications will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Registration must be completed on the online booking platform at least 7 days prior to the commencement of the program.
  • Participants will receive a confirmation email once registration and payment have been confirmed. Please pay attention to the spam or junk mailboxes of your email account.
  • The program date, time, and participant’s name cannot be changed or rescheduled. All payments made are non-refundable and non-transferable. Please make sure the program dates fit into the participant’s schedule before registration.
  • No refund will be made if the participant cannot join the program after registration.
  • Participants under 16 years old must be accompanied by a paying parent/guardian who satisfies all program requirements.

(Groups/ Schools) Notes to Applicants

  • Upon receipt of the application via email, The Fisher will normally inform the successful group applicants by phone or email within 2 weeks. If applicants do not receive any acknowledgment of receipt after 2 weeks from the date of submission of the applications, please contact us at (852) 2639 9868.
  • A group should be under the supervision of teachers or group leaders during the program.
  • The teachers/ group leaders should ensure all participants follow the itinerary and the instructions of the program instructors.
  • No refund will be issued if the number of participants attending the activity is less than the number confirmed in the application.

Important Notes

  • The location for fishing varies depending on the weather, currents and estimated catch rate of the day.
  • Program will be carried out on the boat. Participants should be aware of their physical conditions, e.g. if participants are prone to seasickness, please consider preparation beforehand. (Please refer to instructions on usage of medicines if necessary.)
  • Please bring your own bags for any fish catch.
  • Wheelchairs and strollers are not suitable to use during the program due to safety reasons.
  • Please be punctual. Latecomers will not be entertained.
  • Participants are suggested to wear casual and comfortable sport wear with waterproof shoes, bring enough drinking water, sun protection products and rain gear if necessary.
  • Participants should check their body temperature before attending the activity.

  • Participant absence due to any circumstances is considered as a “no show”. No rescheduling or other arrangements will be provided.
  • Participants who are suffering from any disease (including, but not limited to fever, coughing, cold/flu, skin disease), under the influence of medication and/or alcohol are not recommended to participate in this program.
  • Please refer to the below Special Arrangements Under Inclement Weather Conditions to see the arrangements that correspond to each adverse weather condition if it happens on the program date.
  • Participants must confirm that all information provided is genuine and correct. The program will be canceled due to insufficient enrolment (5 days before the program date) or inclement weather, and participants will be notified via phone, email or SMS.
  • Please take care and safeguard your own personal belongings. Personal possessions are always carried at the passenger’s risk. The Fisher is not responsible for any loss or damage to personal belongings.
  • The program is itself covered by Public Liability Insurance. Participants are fully responsible for arranging, at their own expense, such life, health and other forms of insurance coverage as the individual considers appropriate.
  • Participants must at all times strictly follow all the instructions given by The Fisher’s staff and to the satisfaction of the staff giving the instruction.
  • The program may be canceled or have activities changed due to adverse weather. The content of the program may be subject to change without prior notice. In the event of a dispute, the decision of The Fisher will be final.

Special Arrangements Under Inclement Weather Conditions

If the following weather condition is in force 3 hours before the program begins or when the program is already in progress:
