Program Summary

How does a steamed grouper, the famously delicious Cantonese dish, “swim” to your dining table from the sea? The Fisher team members are going to show you all about the in-betweens: from the source to the delivery process, as well as pro tips for selecting the freshest seafood and the cooking methods! They will also introduce you to the daily operations of the Aberdeen Wholesale Fish Market and the development of fisheries and its culture in Hong Kong. Touring around the vibrant Ap Lei Chau market, you will also discover the industry magic behind the scenes, such as fish preservation, and the sustainable concept of sea-to-table.


What You Will Experience

  • Understanding the development of fisheries in Hong Kong, history of the Fish Marketing Organisation and daily operations of the Aberdeen Wholesale Fish Market, including wholesale of fresh marine fish and live marine products, supply of clean seawater, usage of EPS foam cold press machine, the Fish Processing Centre and more

* The Fisher reserves the right to cancel the program due to insufficient enrolment 5 days prior to the program date. In this case, registered participants will be offered free registration of a program with an equivalent fee within 2 months.

  • All applications will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Registration must be completed on the online booking platform at least 5 days prior to the commencement of the program.
  • Participants will receive a confirmation email once registration and payment have been confirmed. Please pay attention to the spam or junk mailboxes of your email account.
  • The program date, time, and participant’s name cannot be changed or rescheduled. All payments made are non-refundable and non-transferable. Please make sure the program dates fit into the participant’s schedule before registration.
  • No refund will be made if the participant cannot join the program after registration.
  • Participants under 16 years old must be accompanied by a paying parent/guardian who satisfies all program requirements.

(Groups/ Schools) Notes to Applicants

  • Upon receipt of the application via email, The Fisher will normally inform the successful group applicants by phone or email within 2 weeks. If applicants do not receive any acknowledgment of receipt after 2 weeks from the date of submission of the applications, please contact us at (852) 2639 9868.
  • A group should be under the supervision of teachers or group leaders during the program.
  • The teachers/ group leaders should ensure all participants follow the itinerary and the instructions of the program instructors.
  • No refund will be issued if the number of participants attending the activity is less than the number confirmed in the application.

Important Notes:

  • Please bring your own bags for any marine product purchase.
  • Wheelchairs and strollers are not suitable to use during the program due to safety reasons. Please remark in the application if you have any concerns or requests.
  • Please be punctual. Latecomers will not be entertained.
  • The floor of the fish market is slippery. Participants are advised to wear waterproof or slip-resistant shoes for the program. Shoe covers will also be provided for participants.
  • Participants should check their body temperature before attending the activity.

  • Participant absence due to any circumstances is considered as a “no show”. No rescheduling or other arrangements will be provided.
  • Participants who are suffering from any disease (including, but not limited to fever, coughing, cold/flu, skin disease), under the influence of medication and/or alcohol are not recommended to participate in this program.
  • Participants must not be suffering from any infectious disease specified in the First Schedule to the Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance (Cap 599 of the laws of Hong Kong).
  • No refund or postponement will be arranged for any reasons apart from the cancelation caused by adverse weather conditions, COVID-19 epidemic situation and insufficient enrolment.
  • Please refer to the below Special Arrangements Under Inclement Weather Conditions to see the arrangements that correspond to each adverse weather condition if it happens on the program date.
  • Participants must confirm that all information provided is genuine and correct. The program will be canceled due to insufficient enrolment (5 days before the program date) or inclement weather, and participants will be notified via phone, email or SMS.
  • Please take care and safeguard your own personal belongings. Personal possessions are always carried at the passenger’s risk. The Fisher is not responsible for any loss or damage to personal belongings.
  • The program is itself covered by Public Liability Insurance. Participants are fully responsible for arranging, at their own expense, such life, health and other forms of insurance coverage as the individual considers appropriate.
  • Participants must at all times strictly follow all the instructions given by The Fisher’s staff and to the satisfaction of the staff giving the instruction.
  • The program may be canceled or have activities changed due to adverse weather. The content of the program may be subject to change without prior notice. In the event of a dispute, the decision of The Fisher will be final.

Special Arrangements Under Inclement Weather Conditions

If the following weather condition is in force 3 hours before the program begins or when the program is already in progress:
